Who K-pop classes are for

K-pop fans of any level

Whether you grew up watching music videos or just discovered your first group, you’ll pick up the style fast because you already love the music.

Complete beginners

K-pop’s group-sync, sharp isolations, and playful facial expressions are taught from basics up. No prior dance experience required.

Solo students

Most K-pop students come alone. The class is a natural community-builder — group choreo creates connection quickly.

Dancers wanting performance energy

K-pop is one of the best training grounds for stage presence, timing, and working as a unit — great cross-training for other styles.

What to expect in a K-pop class

K-pop classes at Kollective break down the most popular group choreography in a fun, small-class environment. Each session starts with a warm-up, then moves into learning the combination piece by piece — with attention to synergy, expression, and musicality.

Instructors Kezea and Alex grew up watching and studying K-pop choreography. They bring both technical skill and genuine enthusiasm to every class, creating the kind of energy that makes the hour fly by.

By the end of class you’ll have a full combination you can take home. Many students find themselves practising in their kitchen later that night.

What K-pop students say

Kezea is one of the most encouraging dance teachers I’ve ever had! Not only is she your biggest cheerleader for dance, but a great friend. She provides structured and fair feedback for both individual and group dances with positive encouragement. Her support has been a big part of my dancing journey! Similar to her story, I started dancing from home with the help of Kpop dance practice videos on YouTube. Therefore, she is one of my biggest idols to become an excellent dancer!!

The first thing I noticed about classes at Kollective was how welcoming of an atmosphere Kezea created. At my previous dance studios it felt like nobody really cared, but at Kollective if I'm not there people will notice (in a good way!). It's a wonderful safe space from all the toxicity and competition often found in other studios.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know K-pop to join?
Not at all. Beginner classes start from scratch with popular songs you’ll learn to love. No prior K-pop knowledge or fandom required.
Is K-pop dance hard for beginners?
Beginner classes are paced so that newcomers can follow along from week one. K-pop choreography is highly visual and rhythmic, which actually makes it easier to pick up than some styles.
What songs do you use?
Classes use current chart-toppers and iconic group releases. Songs rotate each session. Students often request favourites, and instructors work them in when they can.
Can I come alone?
Yes — most students come solo. K-pop classes have a strong community vibe that makes it easy to meet people quickly. Partners are never required.
How many people are in a class?
Small classes, typically 8–14 students. You’re never lost in a crowd, and the instructor can see and correct everyone.
Where is the studio located?
259 King Street West, Unit 203, Kitchener, ON N2G 1B1 — downtown Kitchener near Victoria and King.
