Twerk Classes in Kitchener
Technique, hip mobility, and confidence in a judgment-free room. No experience needed.
Who twerk classes are for
First-time dancers
You don't need any dance background to start. We break the technique down from the ground up, so your first class is about learning the basics, not keeping up.
Anyone working on hip mobility
Twerk technique is built on hip isolation and control. Students often notice better mobility and core strength after just a few classes.
People who want to come alone
Most students show up solo. It's a judgment-free room where everyone is focused on their own progress, not watching anyone else.
All bodies welcome
There is no body type or fitness level required to join. The class is paced so everyone in the room can follow and build confidence at their own speed.
What to expect in a twerk class
Twerk classes at Kollective focus on technique, mobility, and ownership of your movement. There's no pressure to perform, just grounded technique and choreography that builds confidence one beat at a time.
Each class opens with a warm-up focused on hip isolations and core engagement, so your body is ready before we move into choreography. The instructor breaks each move down clearly, so you understand the mechanics behind it, not just the shape.
Classes are welcoming and judgment-free. Whether you're brand new to movement or have danced for years, you'll be met where you are and leave with technique you can build on.
What students say
“The first thing I noticed about classes at Kollective was how welcoming of an atmosphere Kezea created. At my previous dance studios it felt like nobody really cared, but at Kollective if I'm not there people will notice (in a good way!). It's a wonderful safe space from all the toxicity and competition often found in other studios.”
“Kezea is one of the most creative, patient, and dedicated people I’ve ever met. Her passion for dance is absolutely contagious, and her teaching style strikes the perfect balance between challenging and fun. She has an incredible gift for pushing you out of your comfort zone while still building on your pre-existing strengths. Every class with her will challenge you in the best way possible. Even after moving an hour away, I still made the trip to attend her classes — I simply couldn’t get enough.”
Frequently asked questions
- Is twerk class beginner friendly?
- Yes. Our twerk classes are built for beginners. We slow the technique down, break down the hip isolations step by step, and there's no experience needed to join.
- What do I wear?
- Comfortable clothing you can move in. Leggings or shorts work well, and you'll want shoes with a bit of grip. Avoid anything too loose around the waist since we work a lot through the hips.
- Do I have to perform?
- No. There's no performance requirement or showcase attached to regular twerk classes. It's just you, the music, and the room, at your own pace.
- Can I come alone?
- Definitely. Most students come solo. The room is judgment-free and everyone is focused on their own technique, not watching anyone else.
- Is this class good for hip mobility?
- Yes. Twerk technique is built on hip isolation and control, so classes double as a great way to build mobility and strength through your hips and core.
- Where is Kollective Studios?
- 259 King Street West, Unit 203, Kitchener, ON N2G 1B1, downtown Kitchener. Second floor above King Street.
