Latin Dance Classes in Kitchener

Salsa, bachata, and Afro-Latin styles in one class. Solo-friendly, no partner needed.

Who Latin dance classes are for

Solo dancers

You don't need to bring a partner. Classes are built so you can learn the rhythm, footwork, and hip movement on your own, no partner studio needed.

First-time dancers

The instructor breaks choreography down step by step, so you can walk in with no background and still follow along and build real technique.

Salsa and bachata fans

If you already love salsa or bachata, this class blends both together with Afro-Latin styles, giving you a broader foundation in one place.

Adults of any age

Our adult classes are a judgment-free zone. Everyone is learning together, and the instructor paces the class so the whole room can follow.

What to expect in a Latin dance class

Latin fusion at Kollective blends salsa, bachata, and Afro-Latin styles into a single class focused on hip movement, rhythm, and musicality. Classes are solo-friendly, so no partner is required to take part.

Each class opens with a rhythm warm-up to get your body moving to the beat, then the instructor breaks the choreography down phrase by phrase until the whole room can run it clean. You leave with movement you can actually use.

Beginners are welcome. The class is paced so you can build technique and confidence from your very first session.

What students say

The first thing I noticed about classes at Kollective was how welcoming of an atmosphere Kezea created. At my previous dance studios it felt like nobody really cared, but at Kollective if I'm not there people will notice (in a good way!). It's a wonderful safe space from all the toxicity and competition often found in other studios.

Kezea is one of the most creative, patient, and dedicated people I’ve ever met. Her passion for dance is absolutely contagious, and her teaching style strikes the perfect balance between challenging and fun. She has an incredible gift for pushing you out of your comfort zone while still building on your pre-existing strengths. Every class with her will challenge you in the best way possible. Even after moving an hour away, I still made the trip to attend her classes — I simply couldn’t get enough.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a partner?
No. Classes are solo-friendly and designed so you don't need to bring a partner. You'll learn the movement, rhythm, and technique on your own, unlike a lot of partner-focused studios.
Is this salsa or bachata?
It's a fusion. Classes blend salsa, bachata, and Afro-Latin styles into one class, so you get a broad foundation instead of just one style.
Do I need experience?
No. Beginners are welcome. The instructor breaks the choreography down step by step so you can pick up the hip movement and rhythm even in your first class.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move in, and shoes with a bit of grip or a smooth sole. Nothing special is required to start.
How big are the classes?
Small, typically 8 to 14 students. Big enough for energy, small enough that the instructor can give you individual feedback.
Where is Kollective Studios?
259 King Street West, Unit 203, Kitchener, ON N2G 1B1, downtown Kitchener, second floor above King Street.
